Large outdoor learning space

Children have space to explore a rare natural garden, sensory play areas and water play. The outdoor environment also includes separate nursery and preschool areas, giving children places to play and learn in ways that suit their age and stage.

Child-led indoor rooms

Indoor classrooms are regularly updated to reflect children’s interests and support child-led learning. Dedicated sign-in areas also help families settle into the day and stay connected with centre routines.

Experienced team with 4 ECTs

Children are cared for by a stable team of experienced educators, including 4 Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers. All educators hold Diploma qualifications, bringing strong early learning knowledge to each room. Our multicultural educators can support families in Mandarin, Korean, Filipino and Bangla.

Individual Learning Plans

Individual Learning Plans are developed in partnership with families, reflecting each child’s strengths, interests and developmental goals. Educators use these plans to guide learning experiences that suit each child’s needs, routines and progress.

Government-approved Preschool program

Our Government-approved Preschool program focuses on school readiness and maintains ongoing links with local primary schools. Children practise routines, build friendships and develop the confidence and skills they need before starting school.

Weekly extracurricular activities

Children take part in weekly dance and Zumba sessions, cooking classes and yoga. These activities bring movement, creativity and practical learning into the week, giving children different ways to try new skills.

Local community connections

Children use nearby local amenities such as the library and Garden of Remembrance as part of their learning. These outings help children connect with their local community and learn from familiar places around Chatswood.

Fresh meals and app updates

Fresh, healthy meals are prepared onsite each day, with balanced options including fruit, vegetables and protein. Families can also follow their child’s day through our family app, with photos and updates about routines, learning moments and centre experiences.

“When children take ownership of their learning, they become motivated to persist, explore and master new skills that are key to their overall development.”

I began my career in early childhood education in 2011 and have had the privilege of working across a number of G8 Education centres. I joined Sandcastles Chatswood in 2024. Across these roles, I have worked with all age groups and in a variety of positions, which has given me a strong understanding of children’s development and the importance of high-quality early learning.

As a mum of four children, I truly understand how important it is for families to feel confident that their child is in a caring, loving, safe and nurturing environment. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is being there for children each day, sharing in their moments of learning and discovery, and knowing that we have played a part in helping them develop new skills, confidence and understanding. I have learnt that children are active and unique learners, and that a collaborative, flexible approach to planning is essential. By involving children in the learning process and providing opportunities that support different learning styles, we can create the most inclusive and meaningful outcomes.

I strongly believe that the environment acts as the third teacher. Through engaging learning spaces and a curriculum that is guided by children’s interests, voices and thinking, we empower children to see themselves as capable learners. When children take ownership of their learning, they become motivated to persist, explore and master new skills that are key to their overall development. By encouraging self-discovery, we help children create meaningful experiences and foster a lifelong love of learning.

I am incredibly proud of the team at Sandcastles. Our educators are passionate about creating a true home away from home for children and families, where diversity is celebrated, and every family is respected as unique. We place a strong value on partnerships with families to support each child’s individual needs, and our culture of continuous improvement is reflected through ongoing professional development, reflection and the implementation of contemporary practices.

Supporting families is at the heart of everything we do. Open and honest communication is key, and we value strong two-way communication with families through our Xplor app, email and phone. Families are always welcome to contact the centre for updates, especially while their child is settling in, and we are committed to ensuring families feel informed, supported and confident. Our team looks forward to welcoming your family and beginning this exciting early learning journey together.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Chatswood, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

We integrate sustainability into our daily practices by encouraging children to explore nature through our natural garden and classroom resources and developing sustainability projects based on children’s interests. Using the 7 R’s—Recycling, Reusing, Reflecting, Repairing, Respecting, and Reducing—we embed sustainability in both our actions and conversations with children.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

Language and early literacy

Children develop early literacy through storytelling, books, songs and meaningful conversations. Educators support children to explore language in many forms, including speaking, listening, viewing, drawing and writing, while building confidence communicating with others.

Age-appropriate early learning

We provide learning experiences tailored to each stage of your child’s development. Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and designed to support children’s wellbeing, confidence and growing independence.

See more Sandcastle Chastwood 1 is the best childcare centre my son has attended. At his previous childcare, he wasn’t allowed to move to the preschool room until he was fully toilet trained, which caused him a lot of stress. At Sandcastle, they didn’t have the same requirement. Instead, they supported and guided him through his toilet training journey. Because he wasn’t feeling pressured, he picked it up very quickly. Since then, my son has been so happy to go to childcare and looks forward to seeing his teachers and friends every day. The centre and all its educators are incredibly caring and patient. The manager, Thelma, along with the entire team, has been very helpful in building his confidence, expanding his knowledge, and guiding him every step of the way. We’re truly grateful for the positive impact they’ve had on our son’s development.

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Both Sandcastles child care and early education centres in Chatswood offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Sandcastles uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Sandcastles is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
